Me too! You are the first person to respond. I keep checking to see if anyone would. I am shocked by the lack of interest in protecting our jobs and contract. I held off posting here just to see if anyone would.
I would encourage all members to attend the General Membership Meeting of UAW Local 2350 this month. I believe it is on July 23, in Sacramento. Check with our area UAW representative. It is especially important for the members from the other area office to be there. We need to support each other.

A meeting has been organized. Won't say when or where on this forum but several items will be discussed. We have seen Trinette's grievance AND her DOL complaint to the labor commsr. The info was WAAAY early in the campaign and it actually got worse!
Also, rumor has it that the leadership is shocked (what rock have they been under?) that all the state employee's have NOT come running fwd at their beck and call to take up our jobs! In fact, most of those state ee's RUN FROM as soon as they have had a taste of it. I think the plan has always been to give the state ee's our jobs. Get rid of us when our contract expires. Trouble is no one wants these choice spots we are occupying!!!!

I am glad to hear yu have a meeting. We are going to get one in our area shortly.
I don't know if I believe the leaders are shocked about the members not wanting our jobs, Just look at who they are hiring. To the best of my knowledge not one state employee has been hired as an LRR since SEIU/ CDU took over this Union. I truely beleive they do not want to have LRRs much longer. They want the stewards to do the work and their state jobs. You see it all comes down to money. If you do not have a large staff you payless in benefits, retirement etc. SEIU wants all the money.

You are right. They want to eliminate our jobs. Did you hear about the new COPE campaign. They are going to want us NEXT to get state employees to sign up to pay an extra $5 a month into a political action fund for SEIU.... to benefit the national! Even the staunch supporters will not want to sacrifice an extra $60 a year! This is going to be a big joke and they are going to be giving the LRR's "goals" to get a certain number of sign ups during this next campaign.
Please tell us HOW we are supposed to do that when the last raise most folks had was under DAVIS? This one under AHnold does not mean they got it from HIM. Davis is the one that actually negotiated the raise.
The only thing we can do it ALL stick together. I know of only two reps in the Sac office that will probably exceed the goals. But they could sell ice to eskimoes. Which means we need to become salesmen.

We heard about the cope campaign. I almost fell out of my chair. The only way they are going to get the members to sign for the cope check off is to lie to them. Once members realize the cope money will not be to lobby for thier issues but or issue of private sector employees, good luck.
I for one beleive the members are smart enough not to fall for any lies regarding the political action done by SEIU. CMAC money was spend only on the members issues. Boy oh Boy what a mess.

Hope everyone is going to attend in Sacramento. I know it's a long drive for many, but these are important times. If you want a future at CSEA, you need to get involved ... even if its to tell your officers not to rock the boat.
But most importantly, don't wait to make your voice heard. By the time there's something to grieve about, it is too late. Ask our brothers and sister awaiting an arbitration to try and win their jobs back. Until and unless they do, they are finished at CSEA. How long could you go without a regular paycheck waiting for your arbitration?
I'm no Bush fan, but in this instance, I say there's some merit to his preemptive action doctrine. We can't wait for the bombs to start to fall.

Law Dog you are so right about going to the meeting this Satruday. It is of the upmost importance for a good showing from out of Sacto to be there. There is strangth in numbers.
Law Dog will you be there? I am going to try to get there myself, you see I want to try to meet with several of the LRR from the Central and Coastal offices.
Uncle, we had our meeting last week and it was good. I tried to e-mail four times but it just keeps coming back. I have not forgotten.

I'm leaving home around 6am. To understand the sacrifice I'm making, understand that I haven't seen 6am since my paper route days! Besides, I gotta practice what I preach!

We had a quorum and discussed lots of stuff!! Even got to meet the brains behind this forum and the web site! After seeing the new UAW web site, I am truly proud to be in the same organization! Lots of applause to a union brother who probably did not realize a cent/scent of appreciation. But then, this outlet for our frustrations is PRICELE$$....

I cannot imagine this COPE campaign gaining the momentum anticipated by these talking heads. To begin with, the literature put out raises more questions than it answers. I think they had better hire telephone solicitors or better yet OFFSHORE this activity. I'll bet our unit 1 and 3 people would love getting telephone calls from India asking if they would not like to give an additional $5 per month.
Someone said that things are beginning to stink. Well you know what? We are NOW out-numbered. Only about 50% of the labor reps are UAW. Isn't there anything in our contract that states that UAW must occupy 75% of the existing positions?
Perhaps, if they want to renegotiate the UAW contract, we should request that little addition.
And are all the lost timers happy? I've heard several of them have left after only a month or two...., why is that? What does Mr. Hard have to say about that? He seems to have a lot of answers.
Bottom line. We need to do SOMETHING!!! Something outrageous and noticed!

But take a bow yourself. You and the others who are actually stepping up to the plate make it all happen. I'm just providing the microphone.
